Beyoncé Brings the Mute Challenge to a Theater Near You

Taylor Swift isn’t the only artist making deals with AMC Theatres. Over the weekend, Variety and Deadline leaked the news that Beyoncé will bring the best-selling tour by a female artist to the big screens this winter, an event confirmed by the singer on October 2. The trailer for the film by Beyoncé arrived that same day. “When I am performing, I am nothing but free,” she says in voiceover. “The goal for this tour was to create a place where everyone is free and no one is judged.” We see backstage portraits of Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, dancers, and viral vogueing diva Honey Balenciaga, who toured with the show, as they prepare for the performance. Screaming fans are a given, as is the Homecoming-esque documentary style where concert footage is spliced with behind-the-scenes footage.

The Renaissance concert film will be released on December 1 as an early Christmas gift to the BeyHive. It was reportedly shot at her Houston concert — a.k.a. the same concert with Megan Thee Stallion. Variety claims that CAA held preliminary talks with studios for a project that includes elements of her concert tour, a visual album (Finally!), and a behind-the-scenes documentary. However, there’s no confirmation on what exactly the theatrical release will include and if the other elements are a part of her previous deal with Netflix or other possible streamers. Either way, y’all better be prepared to do the mute challenge at your seats out of respect for the Queen.
